Sixth Grade Math
MATERIALS NEEDED:
DIGITAL MATERIALS:
Online textbook access (login and password given at the beginning of the year)
Schoology access (login and password given at the beginning of the year)
Zoom access with use of video and audio capabilities
Printer access - only for those not attending in person
Optional - A document scanner. I have an app called Genius Scan that will convert a picture image to a pdf. It will allow you to send me images of your work via email when you may need help.

NOTE - In the event your family has limited or no internet access, please let Mrs. Lask of the office know as soon as possible. We would like to help.

TRADITIONAL MATERIALS:
Pencils, highlighter, & ink pen (any color)
Lined paper or spiral notebook to keep daily assignments
Optional ~ Folder or binder to keep notes and completed work organized

HOMEWORK:
Homework will be assigned and collected through the online textbook, Big Ideas Mathematics. The link for this can be found above.
​
Students should keep all of their homework assignments in a notebook or folder to reference when completing the Culminating Assignment. A student may be asked to share images of his or her completed work which will assist Mrs. Lask when additional help is needed.
​
Any work turned in past the due date will receive a 10% deduction. All late work for a chapter must be submitted by the day of the chapter's Culminating Assignment, or it will be entered into the grade book as a zero.
GRADES:
The point distribution for grades is below. Please note that they are subject to change and parents will be made aware of any changes.
Online Homework: 10 points
Notes Check: 5 points
Practice Problems: 5 points
Skill Trainer: 5 points
Assessments: TBD*

ZOOM MEETINGS:
Student should plan on attending all scheduled Zoom meetings with the exception of tutoring Zooms. In the event your student cannot attend a meeting, please contact me via email because attendance will be taken at the Zooms.

TUTORING/HOMEWORK HELP:
Tutoring/homework help will be provided weekly via Zoom. The login and password will be posted on Schoology. The days of the week will vary in an attempt to accommodate all families. If at any time you feel your student needs more individualized attention, please feel free to contact me to discuss your student's needs.

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES:
Weekly enrichment opportunities will be made available in Big Ideas. These assignments will be set up to allow students a chance to challenge themselves on the depth of their understanding of the weekly lessons. These enrichment opportunities will not be graded nor will impact their grade.
​
The assignments will be structured where the student will have an unlimited number of opportunities to attempt the problem. In the event a student becomes truly 'stumped,' they are welcome to contact their teacher for additional support.

Enrichment assignments ARE NOT REQUIRED.
